On Saturday, January 27, 2024, the cold after the new snow did not in any way affect the mood of Chinese people looking forward to the new year. The NSW China Shengguo Theatre Company and the Philadelphia Jing Opera Society joined the Golden Dance School, Shi Ying Dance School, the Central Chinese Society of NSW, and the Purple Ribbon Orchestra of NSW. The Exuan Dance Art Center, the Flower Doodle Dance School, and others held a wonderful Chinese nationalism performance at the American Dream, a large commercial shopping and leisure center in NSW.

On the day of the show, the “American Dream” was brightly lit and cheerful, dragon year ornaments were everywhere, and it was filled with a strong festive atmosphere. The various performance groups were backstage early on, readying their make-up and clothes. We all hoped to bring Chinese traditional culture to every audience through the platform of “American Dream.” It is hoped that this event will not only showcase Chinese opera costumes and ethnic costumes, but also the pure beauty of Peking Opera and Kunming Opera.

The audience was full before the event began, and more people crowded onto the stairs of the second and third floors, all wanting to experience the performance. Before the show began, Mr. Xu Zhaohui, Consul of the Chinese Consulate, gave an opening speech, and the wonderful show began after two hosts, Emily Wu and Cynthia Shen, briefly introduced our program.

The Spring Festival is a day to renounce old ways and welcome new ones, a day for all things to be renewed. All Chinese people are proud of the great and deep culture of the Chinese nation and hope to continue to spread and promote such cultural traditions.

After the show, the audience held the performers back and asked for photos. Mr. Wu Houjun, the senior chief planner, said: “I sincerely hope that this event can show and spread Chinese traditional culture to the residents of different ethnic groups in the community and show a strong cultural heritage to everyone.”After thousands of years, Chinese culture has had a profound accumulation. We hope that more and more people will participate in the spread of Chinese culture.
